How can I get a travel channel or travel magazine to help sponsor a cross-country road trip?

I'm looking for ideas or connections to help make this idea I have a reality. I heard if you promise to get featured or write an article or something, some channels or magazines will help support your travel adventure. Heard of anyone who has done this?
