How can I travel to Canada if I have misplaced my Permanent resident card?

I can't find my permanent resident card and would like to travel to Canada. I do have my European passport and my US D.L.. What happens if I simply show them my foreign passport upon returning to the States and don't even mention that I'm a resident who's misplaced his card? Would this pose a long term problem or be considered sneaky?

What would Jesus do if he had to fool authorities?

|||You cannot enter the U.S. with a foreign passport...unless you have a visa to go with it. If you lost your green card, you must replace it before leaving the country. Why did you feel you needed to try to be funny and ask that inappropriate question? Go, ahead, try to fool the authorities and see what happens.|||You can go to the embassy where you're at now and ask them what you need to do.
